3/9/2025 Last Full Day PV
After coffee and writing, I managed to find some mediocre Birria at a place called Rico Mactaco. Then, I relaxed and wrote while Dave got some outstanding Birria.
I finished up my writing while Dave made his way down the Malicon to All Access Sports Bar. A favorite spot, highly recommend, Magnus Boner rating of 9/10, erect. After I finished, I made my way down to join him. We made a stop through Monzon Brewing. I had the Rice Lager, with sea salt and lime. I ordered just one, asada taco. It was topped with guacamole. The flavor was nice, but the inedible gristle was a major bummer. Dave got the West Coast IPA.
About half way back to our BnB is a spot called YamBak. They have a little pub up in Sayulita. Seems like that spot was/is always out of quite a few styles. YamBak makes solid beer. I give it an 8/10 erection rating. This location is in Zona Centro. It is a very cool spot. It has multiple levels of open air bars, and a wood fired pizza oven. David could not resist ordering a pizza. I am trying to make a rule about not eating pizza before travel days. I won’t go into it, but some of you have read my short story, “The Devil Is In My Colin!” Dave ordered it with Pepperoni, and Pineapple. I won’t tell you pineapple does not belong on pizza. I will tell you, it only belongs on my pizza if it is pared with Habanero, or some other Chile. I did eat 2 small slices pizza. I put salsa macha on one slice, and some kinda creamy chipotle sauce on the other. The pineapple was fresh, and added after the bake. I picked off all, but one piece of it. (Yup, still not for me.) This could have been a great pizza had it been baked a bit longer. There was no leopard spots on the bottom, and the cheese was just melted sufficiently. The texture of the crust had hints of dough. I think it was only 3/4 erect. 7 of 10. However, it definitely had the potential to be a Magnus Böner.
Back near our lodging, I spotted a small taco stand with a spit of Al Pastor. So, I ordered just one. This stand is what I call “brown people tacos”. (authentic/traditional) Peppe’s and Pancho’s are the two most popular toco paces in PV. They are full of white people. I also like to stop by the small stands where I am the only white person there. This taco was simple and delicious. I got some subtle notes of cloves, and cinnamon out of it. We decided Peppe’s tacos was for dinner. We got in line, and before long we had seats. I got one asada quesadilla and two al pastor tacos. All on floor tortillas. On this night they were a bit salty for even my palate. They accidentally sent me something I did not order. I believe they said it was a Quesadilla Gringa, with BBQ Pork. I did not eat it.
We hit up the rooftop bar with the hot Cabana waitress. I think, this place is called 1000 Caguamas. Before long, I spotted a cute lady coming up to the roof top. I gave her a smile and an “Hola”. She gave me one back. Then, I spotted her man friend and figured I had better say hello to him too. Danny, and Katy were from Vancouver BC. Danny is training the be an airline pilot. Katy is a beautician. Katy used to wait tables and tend bars. Danny is tending bar while training to be a pilot. They were great kids to chat with, and Danny may see me at his bar top in Vancouver some day. The conversation of politics came up. We all agreed that Canada, and the US were friends, and we should have each other’s backs.
Don’t worry friends, ambassador Magnus T. Böner travels the world to represent you, with a beer in his hand.
We called it another early night. Tomorrow is travel day and coming home.
