Exfiltrating PV 3/10/25
I get up and am on the streets before the cafes open. So, I often find myself going for a walk to kill time. I made a walk down to the beach to say goodbye to the beautiful Pacific Ocean.
Calmate Cafe has great coffee. So, I went there. I wanted a bagel, and cream cheese. However, it was not on their menu. I got something called Pan Aguacate (literally translates to bread Avocado) it is avocado toast. To me, fat on bread is fat on bread. Budgeting this caloric load is only for vacation. It is a good breakfast to keep the caffeine buzz manageable, while I pretend to be a Tavel writer. This was some tasty toast. I topped it with pickled Jalapeños, and Carrots. It came topped with pumpkin, and sunflower seeds.
Back at the BnB I showered, and got packed. I found Dave reading by the pool, on the rooftop. He said to me, “hey, it may be a dumb ideal, but do you want to just walk to the airport?” I said, “fuck yeah, I am in!” It is only 5 miles, and I have only seen that part of town through a car window. It was 10:30am, and our flight was/is at 4:15pm. They say to show up for international flights 2 hours before the flight. I think this is so you can spend your money on giant overpriced airport beers for 1 hour and 45 minutes…
We cracked our last two cans of Modelo Negra and started hoofing. As we progressed north. PV gets less charming. It reminds me of Las Vegas, Lacey WA or any other boring ass modern urban sprawl.
Soon, we were in Zona marina. This area is a bit fancy. I can see why folks like it, but it is not for me. It was like Kirkland. I can stay home and see that. We ran our of beer after the first mile, and it was 80ºF. I had some water, but I was well hydrated before we left the BnB. Since we were out of beer, we decided we should eat. We did not want to have to eat over priced shit at the Airport. We found a spot called Benito’s Comfort Food and Bar. We got a couple of Pacificos. We ordered a sausage, and cheese appetizer. We both decided on French dips. It took a long time for our food to come out. We used discipline to keep this a 2 beer (each) stop. The food was good, but not impressive. We had to dump a lot of salt in the au jus. It was nice to cool down and dry out.
We arrived at the airport with plenty of time to do nothing. I had to check in manually. So, we got that done. There is an open air bar outside of the airport. So, we stopped there for a can of Modelo especial. We breezed through security, and found ourselves with a couple hours to kill. So, we got ~32 oz plastic cups of Draught Dos XX Amber. With more time to kill, Dave got a 20 oz of the same, and I got 20 oz of Dos XX Lager.
We got on a plane and flew home. I got home just before 10pm. I microwaved and griddled one of my Epic Burritos from the freezer, and unwound with a couple mugs of beer. I made it into work before 8am on Tuesday.
Thanks for reading, y’all. :-)
